GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
Provides support for student academic, social, emotional, and behavioral well-being in the school setting. Provides support for students, families, teachers, and administrators to address various needs , including conducting assessments and implementing interventions to improve student learning.
SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Conducts comprehensive psycho-educational evaluations of students referred for potential special education services.
2. Consults with teachers, school administration, parents, and others as appropriate, regarding the planning, implementation, and evaluation of individual and group interventions designed to address students’ learning and behavioral problems.
3. Interpret assessment results with administrators, teachers, parents, and students to assist in the development of recommendations regarding appropriate placement and interventions.
4. Consults with principals, teachers, counselors, and other staff members for the development of appropriate alternatives for school-related problems including classroom management procedures, intervention strategies, and follow up activities.
5. Contributes to a multifactored evaluation utilizing diagnostic instruments and techniques appropriate for the area of suspected disability.
6. Contributes to the written report of the evaluation team and delineates the results the psycho-educational evaluation for consideration in the development of the Individualized Education Plan.
7. Serves as a consultant to the schools in the development of educational evaluation and accountability procedures, pupil policies, curriculum, mental health, special education, assessment strategies which appropriately account for the varying backgrounds of students, classroom management, instructional methodology, and crisis intervention.
8. Participates in professional organizations, workshops, conferences, seminars, in-service programs, and additional training as appropriate.
9. Respects and maintains confidentiality of student information.
10. Completes any other duties as may be assigned by the superintendent or designee.
Education and Credentials
1. Master’s degree in School Psychology
2. Hold valid credentials from an accredited institution
Physical Requirements
1. Travel from building to building within the district
2. Ability to lift and carry up to twenty-five pounds of materials from car/buildings
3. Ability to climb stairs
Environmental Factors
Exposure to blood borne pathogens and body fluids – Class II (low exposure)
