Norwalk City School Driving Instructor – Job Description -
Join the Norwalk City School Driving School team and help shape the next generation of safe, confident drivers!
We’re seeking energetic, dependable, and student-focused individuals to serve as Driving Instructors. If you’re passionate about education and safety—and want a flexible and rewarding part-time position—we’d love to hear from you!
Key Responsibilities:

Deliver in-vehicle driver training to teens and young adults.

Facilitate learning using state-approved curriculum and instructional materials (all provided).

Promote a safe and supportive learning environment in all vehicle settings.

Communicate progress and provide constructive feedback to students and parents.

Accurately complete all state-required documentation and reporting.

Flexible scheduling: after school, evenings, and weekends

Paid training and certification

Opportunity to earn $20+/hour after certification
Minimum Requirements:
-
Must be 21 years of age or older
-
Valid driver's license held for at least 5 years
-
Clean driving and criminal record
-
High school diploma or GED
-
Strong communication and interpersonal skills

Ability to work independently and responsibly

Completion of Sexual Harassment Prevention Course

Up to date biennial physical examination
Training Requirements:
We provide paid training to become a state-certified driving instructor, which includes:
-
24 hours of classroom observation completed in-person, virtually, or online.
-
16 hours of behind-the-wheel observation
-
8-hour Basic Instructor Course (Online)
-
2-hour classroom teaching evaluation
-
2-hour behind-the-wheel instructional evaluation
Total training time: 52 hours (typically completed within 6–8 weeks) -
Successful passage of a driving test and exam.
